In case you haven’t heard, J.J. Abrams has agreed to direct Star Wars Episode VII. Prepare for the lens flare!!!
If you are unfamiliar with J.J. Abrams’ movies, he has directed the new Star Trek movie, Super 8, and the very expensive pilot episode of LOST. I like to think that we can usually expect a great cast. Like I said in my other post, we can expect some of the original Star Wars cast to return, as Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher said they would be happy to make appearances. Chloe Moretz is rumored to be taking the lead role.
J.J. initially declined the directing role since he planned on filming the 3rd Star Trek movie for 2015, but after some Jedi mind tricks, he gave in. This does cause a problem though because J.J. might have to work on Star Trek and Star Wars at the same time if he wants to meet 2015 expectations. He may end up directing Star Wars and just overseeing the 3rd Star Trek movie.
This has caused some stir among Fan Boys and Trekkies. There has always been a Star Wars vs. Star Trek war, and now J.J. is directing both franchises. Is J.J. the one that will bring balance? Or is this the start of the Nerd Wars? Only time will tell. But if war breaks out, I’m not gonna be the one that forgot a lightsaber.
